I went to see the doctor's this morning. I had small case of the running nose and the irritating cough. Don't know if it was weather related, i.e. the haze or the lack of rest from running around in Genting last week. It could also be both! :-P
Anyway, while in the waiting room, I overhead a series of conversation that I could identify as belonging to the Cantonese, Hakka, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. All under one small square metre of space which that clinic could offer. A swath of dialects and other languages spoken at the same time which was fascinating to hear. This is because you don't usually get this back in Singapore. It's usually Mandarin or English. Even the Malays there end up using some English with their Malay and come out something a bit like both (Manglish?).
Dialects, especially the Chinese ones, are not too common, unless you consider the Hokkien or Teochew. But mostly you hear the English being spouted all over the place. So, to be in a place like Malaysia and in particular, Kajang, listening to these languages can be rather exhilirating to the ears. :-)
The day was still hazy and not much change from yesterday. My nephew again came back to the computer and played his CandC Generals and it's amazing to see that whatever army he plays with, he usually wipes out the opposition forces without as so much as batting an eyelid! It was like taking a walk down the park and back... This time he was the US forces. I noticed that the game thus far has the enemies of the Chinese and the US forces as the GLA (read terrorists!). So convenient!
Feeling a little groggy now, after downing my medication... *yawn*
