The Long and Winding Road
Tired.

The activities of the day took the wind of me. Firstly, there were RCIA interviews where the remaining candidates never turned up or were late. So, most of the morning was spend walking up and down the stairs of my office to the front door of the priests' house to wait and look out for the interviewees. People are never on time in Singapore. *sigh*

Then there was the Children's Mission Project Party. Did the opening prayer, gave out awards and finish off with the closing prayer. Around that time I was already half-dead as I was sleepy and wasn't in a proper mood to mix around much or to engage in a more livelier outreach. Getting up at 5 a.m. in the morning with no rest till then can do that to a person. Managed to help out in taking some candid shots for the occasion. The children was a boisterious lot. The magic show could have been better. The magician seem to have lost a third of the audience halfway through the show. That third was restless and were eyeing the food that was displayed so tantalisingly on the tables nearby behind them.

Then it was the confessional and the experience of encouraging the penitents to be more serious with their lives as responsible Catholics in the world. I get the feeling that we are not truly serious with our baptismal promises to the extent that we even forget, neglect or chuck them aside for the material and individual wants and novelties of the world. I was down that road before, so I know what this is all about. I still find this difficult to put this right for myself, too! Yet the struggle continues. The trouble is many give up too easily...

What a road we are travelling on!
