No Safe Places....

The recent militants' attack in the city of Mumbai, which was all over the news headlines on TV and papers today, is a stark reminder that the scourge of violence and terror never really went away despite numerous efforts to keep it contained or to eradicate it.

Will we ever see the end of such strife and violence?

Today, perhaps more than ever, there aren't any place in the world which is safe any longer. Terror seems to have gain an upper hand with shooting, killing and bombing being the order of the day. Human lives are no longer sacred but becomes statistical figures in the charts of the dead, wounded and maimed. This escalation of violence and terror show a disturbing trend in the world, that want to assert their place in the political arena, at the expense of lives of innocent people and those caught in the crossfire.

In the midst of all this, one can't help but intuit that the only group of people (war merchants?) who have benefitted from all this are those who deal in selling weapons to whomever wants them, whether for nefarious means or for a country's security. No amount of economic crisis will ever threatened their ricebowl and with wars and terrorism sprouting everywhere, these guys are really, in a perverse sense, laughing all the way to the bank...
