Pending

At the point where all things are pending for something....

I thought I had a Mandarin class for prep for next week's Saturday's Mandarin Mass but till now the teacher hasn't arrived yet. I can't remember whether we have cancelled it or he will be late.

At 5.45 pm I shall head out with the youth group of my parish to begin their 3D 2N retreat over at IHM Retreat house. So, for that, I am all packed and ready to go. Just awaiting that moment where we will get into three cars and make our way there.

I am wondering how I am going to 'survive' the weekend with the youths in tow and also relish the opportunity of being away from the parish for a while and getting some amount of peace and quiet during the retreat.

The past weeks has been rather full with people to see, meetings to attend and also the flurry of activities that paved the way for our 65 catechumens and 6 candidates to continue into their next final step of preparation (purification and enlightenment) towards their baptism through the recent Rite of Election last Sunday afternoon. For them, their entry into the Catholic Church is pending their decision to 'yes' in a rather unique way before the Church's community at the Easter Vigil later.

For many people within the neighbourhood of this parish, most of them have their lives pending upon certain decisions and outcomes that will determine their livelihood in the next weeks, months or the year ahead.

Myself, I am just looking over the horizon of this day and hoping that the next will be just as kind to me as today was!

(looks like my mandarin class isn't going to come on... :P)
