Do not be afraid...
Three times mentioned by Jesus to his disciples in today's gospel reading. We live in a world where fear can be a constant baggage we carry along in our lives. We are afraid to come out of this cell we put ourselves into and we spend most of our wasted time dealing with it when there is no need of this.
Such is our lot.
Yet, the way out is there. However, the trick is whether we allow ourselves to make that leap from darkness to light. Stories like The Lord of the Rings show us that we need not put up with the delibitating fear because we can overcome it with courage and the will to make things change for the better. Even the gospel message of today tells us not to fear people or things, for God will have the final say. He is with us for we are his sons and daughters.
So cheer up!
"...there is no need to be afraid. You are worth more than hundreds of sparrows." (Mt 10: 31)
