Transitions

Arrived in one piece after my week's break in Malaysia. I was wishing I could stay for another week, but reality beckons and now it's back to the grind of things. Still in my switched-off mode. But I know I can't remain like this forever. I have a morning mass to celebrate tomorrow.

First on the list, however, was a visit to a parishioner who had passed away about two days ago. He was much loved and respected in the parish both of Holy Family and OLPS. This was evident in the great number of people (friends and clergy) that came by to pay him their last respects. Aloysius Conceicao was more known in Holy Family as a person whom you can rely on to help out in animating the funeral masses in this parish. He also was a regular and a handy voice for the 9.15 a.m. St David's Choir on Sundays, where his family participates and directs.

'Lofty' as he was more known as, he was an affable chap with friendly dispositions to all whom he met and encountered. His son-in-law showed me a wreathe, when I was at the wake earlier, which was signed off as from a Francis Toh, Jago Carrot Cake Stall! Even the carrot cake seller was touched enough by Lofty's passing to be able to send a farewell of this kind nature...

Life is full of surprises. Indeed, when you think you have seen them all, it surprises you with a curve ball. We'll miss you Lofty! Have a great time with the choirs in heaven...

Hey Fr Aloy,
Thanks for the lovely tribute to Dad. We're deeply touched. I really miss him so much.....he's truly been 'Dad' to me.
